Communication

Parent-School Partnership

Lincoln Hall has hosted 3 grade level parent coffees this year.  Although they were not as well attended as we had hoped, there were many useful ideas generated through the discussions with the parents.

Here are some of the topics that were raised which we are exploring as a school.

Communication:  As you know, we are relying more on the Internet and technology as the primary mode of communicating with families.  Here are just some of the questions we are wrestling with this year during this transition.  How has technology and the Internet helped us be more effective communicators with families?  Are there false assumptions we make because we have put the information “on the web”.  How many families are accessing our Website?  Are there other “traditional” communication practices that are more effective with parents?  How can we communicate effectively what events are scheduled for our students and what conflicts exist for students?

Cosier LA/Reading News

This week we continued our study of The Stowaway by developing a summary of a section of the voyage in cooperative groups.  When these are turned in, we will begin the task of assessing the main character's development throughout the novel.   We continue to study sentences in grammar, and Greek and Latin roots in vocabulary.  We have also begun focusing and planning our thoughts in our writing books.

Next week, students will be introduced to the one-minute book report, and will have to summarize one of the books they read this summer in that format by the 24th.

This blog will be updated with long-term projects and weekly, general information.  Students should check with their homework buddies for daily assignments.

Welcome Back Students

August, 2007

Dear Lincoln Hall Families,

I hope everyone is having a safe and enjoyable summer.  We have been very busy this summer getting our school ready for another great year.  This year you will see some new programs designed at better meeting the needs of all of our students.   We have added many new staff members and moved some of our existing staff to new positions, all in an effort to provide the best possible education for your child.  Lincoln Hall is continually looking at how we educate your children and how we can improve the way we support them.  One change worth noting now is that Lincoln Hall and District 74 will focus more on promoting healthy eating, and there will be some new expectations for all of us (more information will be coming home soon).
