Dry Ice is solid carbon dioxide, and is approx. -78.3 oC  That’s VERY cold.

It was a pleasure to accompany the eighth grade class to "Romeo & Juliet".  They were a fabulous audience and well behaved in the food court!  I look forward to taking them to the Nile's West production next week.

Chemistry: The Elements and Periodic Table

A new unit begins -- all about the elements, atoms, molecules and chemical Reactions! We are moving from the discussion of phases and physical change to the arena of chemical changes! Here, the starting materials will usually become a new substance when a reaction occurs. 

 We continue in the Matter textbook, with Chapter 3. Our lab experiements will be from a new book  -- The Properties of Matter ( we call it the "Red Book").

Assignments

Due  Tues. 2/19 -Read and TN - Matter, Chapter 3 - pgs. 57-67.

Due Thurs. 2/21 Read and TN - Chapter 3, pgs. 67-76.

Next Lab will be on Friday 2/22 - Red Book, Combining Elements  - read pgs 198-203 and prepare for the labwork!
