8TH GRADE EXPRESSIVE ARTS ELECTIVE: MILLENNIUM MUSIC PROJECT

The students are nearing the finish-line of a unit on classical music, featuring Mozart.  The class is completely engaged in all things "Amadeus," and it is truly an interdisciplinary unit.  In addition to the musical aspects of Wolfgang, we are learning very valuable lessons in geography, psychology, and sociology as well as investigating the famous "Theory of Multiple Intelligences," and the concept of "genius."  This unit will culminate with the "Mozart Paper," a major paper comparing and contrasting the lives of composer Mozart and Salieri.  This is a homework assignment which will be due 2 weeks after the rubric is distributed (which will be at the end of the week).  After a follow-up with Beethoven, the students will make the quantum leap to blues, jazz, rock, and rap as we continue to explore and examine the myriad of genres and multiple pioneers within the history of music!
