Math in Mrs. Valfer's Class

In accelerated algebra, we have been reviewing chapters one and two as well
as beginning chapter three.  The students are eager to learn and are already
working hard.  As the year progresses, our pace will increase.  In chapter three,
the fundamentals of solving equations is started. The students must be able to
solve an algebraic equation if they are to be successful in algebra.

Pre-Algebra classes are exploring the basic algebra concepts of order of operations, evaluating expressions, translating English words to math symbols, and algebraic properties.  Most of the students seem to be off to a really good start in seventh grade.

Skills in whole numbers are the focus of the introduction to pre-algebra class.
The students have reviewed place value, comparing and ordering of numbers,
and rounding. The students seem to be very positive in their attitude and efforts.

The best way that you can keep informed of your child's progress is to check
powerschool.  I try to update it frequently.  If you have any questions, though
please feel free to call me at any time.Â
