Reading: Lesson 8-9 in reading decoding books
* Focus on Strategies for Predicting

LA: Review Paragraph Writing: This week we will review why we use paragraphs, the parts of a paragraph, organizing paragraphs, and writing strong topic sentences. Students will complete hands-on activities involving sequencing/organizing ideas and sentences within paragraphs.

8th Math: This week we will finish CH 7: Fractions and Mixed Numbers. Students will be able to change mixed numbers into fractions & fractions into mixed numbers. Students will also complete a short unit regarding “Using Fractions and Mixed Numbers in Real Life”. Once this unit is complete, students will review multiplying and dividing fractions.

Science: Continue using scientific method to problem solve. Students should turn in their “Simpson’s’ Science Problem” sheet on Monday. Wednesday, students will watch a video example of other students using the scientific method to answer their questions about being a better basketball player. Students will then work in groups to complete a basketball shooting experiment of their own. Students will use steps of scientific method to determine what type of hand position allows individuals to shoot more baskets. Students will practice skills needed for their own science fair projects such as identifying their purpose, writing procedures, conducting the experiment, recording and graphing their data, and then analyzing and sharing their results with the class.

6th/7th Math
: Students will continue to practice their basic math skills during 5-minute daily math warm-ups. Students will continue to work on mastering division skills. Students will practice utilizing strategies to solve word problems that involve dividing.
