Sew Successfully

* Receive Mrs. Levy's approval for the pattern you choose to construct
* Figure out you pattern size according to "Layout & Cutting Instructions"
* Make sure you have all your pattern pieces
* Cut your pattern pieces on the appropriate size
* Put your name on all the pieces
* Check that you have all your pattern pieces before you throw out the pattern scraps

* Check to see that your fabric is on grain so that your project will hang properly
* Check step 2 in your "Layout & Cutting Instructions": Preparing the Fabric

* Look at your fabric carefully
* Fold your fabric as in the "Layout & Cutting Instructions"( see diagram: Layout #4)
* Make sure the fabric that you want to see is folded toward the inside
* Place pattern pieces on your fabric keeping all grainline in the same direction and straight
* Put your "Place on Fold Pattern" patterns along the fold line
* Using two pins, pin all the patterns in place
* Have Mrs. Levy check the pattern pieces
* Pin all the patterns in place securely
* Cut your pattern carefully

* Choose the method of transferring pattern marks to the fabric
* Check "Layout & Cutting Instructions" (see Marking #6)

* Follow individual sewing pattern instructions
* Check off each step after completion
* Pin and stitch with "Right Sides Together" unless otherwise instructed
* Read the stitching instructions before sewing
* Use a 5/8 inch seam unless otherwise instructed
* Begin and end with a backstitch in order to secure the seam
* Sewing over pins will break the needles
* Press your seams immediately after stitching
