Desktop Email Client
Hi Lincoln Hall!
Now that we've all gotten used to our new
webmail client I wanted to send out instructions on how to hook up your
webmail to a desktop email client.
Webmail is great for when
you are connected to the internet, but what about if I want to access a
work email and I have my laptop but no internet connection?
(Example: You are rushing leaving work, grab your laptop, leave to stop at the grocery store to grab something to bring to the birthday party you are headed to, then realize your forgot to print out the email with the directions to his house!)
That is where the desktop client can help.
There are 2 desktop clients for which I've attached instructions on how
to set up with your webmail. The Zimbra Desktop is MUCH easier to
install, and it looks exactly like our webmail! The Entourage is a
little less user-friendly to set up, but I know we are all used to it. There are
also many others out there (Ex: Thunderbird) that we can look into if you so choose.
NOTE: Neither of these desktop clients allow you to hook up to the "Company Contacts" in Zimbra. Therefore, it will not completion match on anyone's name in the district unless you have emailed them prior or saved thier contact info to your personal address book. ALSO, neither of these desktop clients seem to work very well with the shared calendar funtion.Â
Give me a ring if you have questions!
