Summer Reading, Had Me a Blast

Summer is the perfect time to catch up with on all those books you've always wanted to read. I want to know what you are reading...send me an email and I will save a book to give you in the fall!

This is my code: Laughing = book for teachers and parents; Cool = book for students and other book lovers. Here's what's on my list so far:

Proust and the Squid: The Story and Science of the Reading Brain, Maryanne Wolf - My second time reading this one; it is the subject of a District 74 summer book group. If you wonder how and why we learned to read, this is the book for you! (5Laughing)

Red Kayak, Priscilla Cummings - This book reminds me of On My Honor, but for older readers. Sometimes what haunts us isn't the bad choice we make, but the guilt that stays with us afterwards. (4Cool)

The Host, Stephanie Meyer - Loved Twilight and its sequels; while interesting and fun, this story of a parasitic alien species isn't quite as good. (3Cool)

Ida B., Katherine Hannigan - The main character in this remarkable story is unforgettable - this easy read will keep you smiling and thinking. (5Cool)
