Week of May 27

 End of Quarter 4!
The 4th quarter has gone by quickly, and I will miss my students that have been so creative this year.  Although there is still time left with 6th and 7th grade, the 8th graders are just about finished. A nice thing about Art class is that I will see the 6th and 7th graders again next year, but I will miss the 8th graders!  Expect your child to bring home their artwork this week (if they are 8th graders), and next week if they are in 6th or 7th.  All projects will be returned – although the Village Hall Art Show work will not be back until Friday the 30th.

6th GRADE ART
Students have taken the quiz, and will finish the quarter by learning how to write calligraphy with traditional calligraphy pens and ink.  We will look at some famous quotations from many cultures, and pick among those sayings to use as practice for their calligraphy.

7th GRADE ART
Students are finished with their Andy Warhol still life – they came out looking very nice!  We will finish out the year by learning a how to create a perspective drawing.

8th GRADE VIDEO TECH
The last project is animation, and I enjoy the creative things being done so far.  The students have definitely found out how much work goes into an animation.  Students have used puppets, action figures and cutouts as the characters in their videos – and hopefully these will all be shared with the rest of the school on WLH after they are completed.  Your child should now be able to create a well-made and edited video for your family.

8TH FILM STUDIES
The last project is a presentation in which students will show a scene from a movie that they  consider to be great film making, and analyze the scene according to the concepts we have learned: i.e., story structure, and camera, set, and editing design.
