Week of 4/14/08

6th GRADE
After finishing up on their folders, students will start on figure drawing. Students will learn how to create gesture drawings first, and from go on to longer and more detailed drawings. The finished drawing will not be due until later next week.

7th GRADE
After the Right Brain/Left Brain drawing, students will move on to ceramics. Because ceramics is our longest project (and the 4th quarter seems to move more quickly than any other quarter), I want to get students started quickly. The students will be building a functional ceramic container. This could be a mug, bowl, vase, jewelry box, candle holder, etc… and our glaze is food safe, so these containers can all be used at home.

8th VIDEO TECH:
Many students have turned in their contract sheets and consent forms, but not all. Please sign and return them asap. Video groups will be formed and will have their first challenge – completing a camera search worksheet in preparation for videotaping their first project. Our quiz on Video and TV history will be soon!

8th FILM STUDIES:
Students have already seen a selection of clips of some of the first movies ever made. We have started on our first complete movie screening (Charlie Chaplins’ Modern Times). Students have a flipbook assignment that will be due in one week (Mon. 21st), and there will be a quiz on film history soon – more info to follow.
