Celebrating success in all areas

In case you did not see Lincoln Hall’s presentation at the School Board meeting this week, I wanted to share with you some of the highlights of our presentation. Lincoln Hall has always attempted to provide opportunities for our students to excel in all areas. We promote success in the academic, social, emotional and physical arenas. Our school has recently celebrated the accomplishments of our students in the Spelling Bee, Geography Bee and Battle of the Books. Our sports teams have done very well this year and we honored the Varsity Girls Basketball and Volleyball teams with their winning seasons at the Board meeting as well. Another aspect of Lincoln Hall is our continued development of Interdisciplinary units. These types of activities promote learning in all academic areas and students are actively engaged in the learning process. To quote Mr. Michel our assistant principal, “this kind of study is the heart and soul of a middle school”. At this meeting we highlighted 6th grade’s “Greek Day”, 7th grade’s “Experiencia and Exchange City” and 8th grade’s “Immigration Day”. These events and learning activities promote a process of “experience learning” where students can take their background knowledge and connect it to the lessons in the classroom. All of these are examples of the learning experiences we try to promote at our school and I hope that your children have received valuable lessons and experiences that they will be able to apply in their future.
