Earth Day in December? A look at what we are doing in tech.

Green is in.

This week, in 6th grade Ms. Yocus's 6th graders have been exploring climate change through an interactive educational website, called planet green game. See: http://www.planetgreengame.com/

Students are asked to solve global warming problems in a variety of settings, a school, fuel station, a construction site, a house, and even confront city hall.

For a list of things you can do to curb your own carbon emissions (download the attachment 10 things).

In 7th grade Sharon Churchwell and Dr. Donna Mau are researching renewable resources. Students are asked to come up with sustainable solutions for transportation. So far they identified multiple alternative fuels and would like to design an exhibit for the museum of science and industry highlighting their findings.

For a great site that compares alternative fuels go to:

Finally, 34 of Sharon Churchwell's students were selected to test a harvard created interactive world called River City. In River City students are asked to do a series of environmental tests (water testing and anthrax testing), in order to figure out why the River City's towns people are getting sick.

Onwards!.
