2010 Rebecca Caudill Young Readers' Book Award Program

Welcome!  This September, I will begin to share my excitement about this year's Rebecca Caudill Young Readers' Book Award nominees with our students through booktalks.  The Caudill Award is given each year to the author of the book voted most outstanding by students in grades four through eight in participating Illinois schools. It is given in honor of Rebecca Caudill, an author from Appalachia who lived and wrote in Urbana, Illinois for almost 50 years.  This year's outstanding titles represent some of the best writing in children's literature.

Library Orientation/Fall 2009

During the first few weeks of school, I will have the opportunity to meet all of our incoming sixth graders and provide an orientation and tour of Lincoln Hall library. The students will also do a Library Treasure Hunt activity and have a chance to check out independent reading books for the first time. Each child willl have library day every two weeks and be able to check out up to three books.
