LA: Today we did a little creative writing in class.  Each period picked a person, a setting, and an object out of an envelope and then began writing a story.  Because of our shortened schedule, we only had time to begin our stories.  We will continue work on them next Friday.  Homework: None.

Advanced LA: Today we completed pages 12-15 of the Write Traits book.  Homework: Rough draft of "Horrible Day" essay due Wednesday (10 min. x 3 nights)

Advanced Reading: Today we heard a few more book talks.  Homework: Short Essay Assignment due Thursday.  (10 min. x 3 nights)

LA: Today we took our first grammar quiz and then we began work on the simple predicates section.  Homework: None.

Advanced LA: Today we completed pp. 7-9 in the Write Traits book.  Then we added some more to the brainstorming of our ideas for the "Horrible Day" essay.  See attachments below for the essay description and rubric.  Homework: Rough draft of "Horrible Day" essay due Wednesday.

Advanced Reading: Today we heard more book talks.  Homework: Short Essay for Children of the Lamp due Thursday.

LA: Today we worked on identifying fragments and run-ons.  Homework: Study for tomorrow's grammar quiz.  You can use the optional review packet if you would like.  (10 min.)

Advanced LA: Today we read the picture book Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.  Then we started brainstorming ideas for our own "Horrible Day" essays.  Homework: Rough draft due Wednesday.  (10 min x 3 nights)

Advanced Reading: Today we heard more book talks and added more to our Deception in COTL chart.  Homework: Finish book talk, if necessary.

LA: Today we worked on subjects and predicates and completed #7-12 from page 343.  Homework: Study for Thursday's quiz (10 min.)

Advanced LA: Today we corrected the grammar survey from Friday.  Homework: None.

Advanced Reading: Today we heard a few book talks and we began discussing the summaries from The Children of the Lamp.  In our notebooks, we are keeping track of examples of deception from the book.  Homework: Finish your book talk if necessary.

LA: Today we corrected the pre-tests and completed the lesson on "What Is a Sentence?" (pages 340-341).  Homework: Spend 5-10 minutes reviewing your grammar notes from today.

Advanced LA:  Because of Picture Day, all we had time for was reviewing the Multiple Intelligence Survey.  Homework: None

Advanced Reading: Today we got into our groups to write summaries based on the bullet points we wrote on Friday.  Homework: Final revisions for book talk (10 min).
