Week of January 11 - 15

Happy New Year and welcome back to school!

THis is the second week of school and we are working on some stories from the textbook.  There will be regular tests and reading responses to these stories and occasionally the students will need to take their books home.

We are continuing to work on verbs and our narrative essay.  I look forward to reading those life-changing events that everyone is writing about!

Week of December 7 - 11

Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving Break!

Here comes the SNOW!

We are finishing up our Morality Unit this week - with a culminating writing activity.  We hope you have a new appreciation for making tough choices in difficuolt situations.

We will go to the Library this Friday to pick out a non-fiction book to read over Winter Break.

In Language Arts, we are working on our Pronoun Unit, and finishing up the Six Traits with punctuation/capitalization exercises.

Week of November 23-24

Short week this week in preparation for Thanksgiving -

A trip to the library to check out a Sports genre book for the next book report - due December 7th.

Work on the 7th grade Gossip poem to present tomorrow after the Noun test.

I am grateful for YOU - have a restful weekend.

Week of November 9-13

Short week!  Conferences and Veteran's Day!

We're starting our morality unit this week with a book of your choice - beginning with 2 non-fiction articles and an in-class discussion in your literature circles.  Be sure to read your section of the book every night so that you can keep up with your group.

We are also working on Sentence Fluency with 2 papers - Twilight and Wild Baby.

Week of November 2 - 6

It's a new quarter!  Take a minute to think about what happened last quarter.  Are there any changes you would like to make in your academics?  Behavior?  Friendships?  Activities?  A new quarter is a perfect time to "start over"!

This week we are checking out a fantasy book for our next book report.  The book talk will be due on Monday, Nov. 16th.  Remember that it is a slightly revised rubric.

We will also be workiing in out Lit book this week - but - NEWS FLASH!  Your lit books are  now available ONLINE!  You will get a student ID and a password this week.
