ISAT Testing this week.

This week we begin our unit on Rome. We will focus on the geography of the Roman Empire and Italy.

The goals for this week include: 1. Evaluating parts of a map. 2. Reading and interpreting thematic maps. 3. Using the coordinate grid system of latitude and longitude to determine the absolute location of place. 4. Estimating distances between two places using a scale. 5. Using cardinal and ordinal directions for relative locations.

SOCIAL STUDIES: WEEK OF AUGUST 24

This year in social studies, we focus on ancient civilizations as well as the Middle Ages. Our units for this year will include: Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece, Near East, China, and Rome. In addition, we will spend time studying archaeology.

Students will be evaluated in four areas: projects, homework, quizzes, and tests. For the first quarter, each area will be weighted towards their final grade as follows: projects 40%, homework 25%, quizzes 20%, and tests 15%.

This week we will discuss our classroom economy.
