4th Grade Orchestra and Band Recruiting
Submitted by Mr Jones on Tue, 2008-08-26 13:46.Next week, Mrs. Spindler and I will visit 4th grade music classes to demonstrate the instruments of the band and orchestra. Students will then have the option of joining the band or orchestra. Attached, you will find the information that your student should be bringing home from school.
Learning an instrument is a great way for your child to develop his or her confidence, brainpower, and become part of a team. Research has shown that students who commit to learning an instrument excel in other areas of academics as well. This helps them attain their full potential as well-rounded citizens.

Solo and Ensemble Competition is almost here!
Submitted by Mr Jones on Fri, 2008-01-11 13:27.Students have chosen their solos and ensembles and are well on their way to successful performances!
The Illinois Grade School Music Association Solo & Ensemble contest is a great way to motivate students, encouraging self-learning, and inspiring confidence. The competition is not against any other student or group of students. It is based solely on the student's desire and ability to better themselves!Â
Rehearsals for small ensembles have already begun during the school day. Soloists begin practicing with their accompanists next week (see their orchestra folder for complete schedule).
On February 13th, these students will play for their EA classes during school, and participate in a Sneak Preview Night that evening. Then, they will perform on Saturday, February 16th for the IGSMA Contest!
