The sixth graders learned how to sew buttons. They were so excited to make their own pin cushions! They started their sewing projects last week. First they cut the fur, then they pinned the pattern pieces together, and then they started to sew. Watch for their finished projects to be coming home soon.

The seventh graders are also working on their first project from boxers, sweatpants, pjs, to capris. They have been pinning and cutting! This week they started to sew on the machines.

The eighth graders have also been very busy. The advance sewing classes are making hats, sweatshirt, pants, t-shirt and many more items.

The 6th and 7th grade will be preparing a cookbook for their classes. Here is a slide presentation of some of the recipes.

Cooking Show

Enjoy another Cooking Show from the eighth grade Complete Chef Class.

Cooking Show

One of the projects for the eighth grade Complete Chef class is to produce a Cooking Show. The students work with their group (kitchen) at home. They prepare the food while one student from the group video tapes (they can take turns video taping though). The students edit their shows, and then put it on a DVD. They will bring the DVD or the camera with a cord that can make the video available to watch on the computer and or TV. While the students watch the show the group who produced it will be heating up the food for the class. This cooking show is a wonderful way to show the students' inner desires to cook. And who knows maybe someday they might have their own cooking show.

Enjoy below the Asian Cooking movie that was created by 2 of my students. Requires Quicktime.

Sew What...

The sixth graders and seventh graders are progressing beautifully. Projects are being turned in and students are very excited about their finished products. Some of the projects are footballs, soccer balls, pillows and animals. The seventh graders will start sewing their projects on the machines this Monday, Nov. 19th.

Complete Chef Classes have started something new and exciting. We are sharing recipes with each other online. I have asked my students to search the Internet and find 10 recipes. Then they are required to email them to me. It is very exciting to communicate with them once they have emailed me. Some of these recipes we will be preparing in class.

It is a digital world...

A Great Start!

This week the sixth graders learned to sew buttons and they were so excited to make their own pin cushion!
Their sewing projects were just delivered today.
Next week we will start working on their projects. First they will cut the fur, then they will pin the pattern pieces together, and then they will start to sew.

The seventh graders are also working on their first project from boxers, sweatpants, pjs, to capris. They have been pinning and cutting! Monday they will be ready to sew on the machines.

The eighth graders have also been very busy this week. We made chocolate chip cookies and cheese omelets. It was great being back in the kitchen. We reviewed abbreviations and measurements.

The Complete Chef: Cake Decorating

The classes prepared three box cakes and two homemade/scratch cakes. The first day they baked the cakes and the following day they decorated them. The third day was the best day of all; the students and their teachers had a cake contest. The cakes were judged on appearance, texture, crumb, and flavor. And the winner is...

Barbie in the morning class!

Both classes all did a fantastic job! Hope you enjoy the photos!
