Submitted by Mrs Nixon on Mon, 2008-05-05 15:30.Spirit Week at Lincoln Hall! Today was Pajama Day - Tuesday is Crazy Day, Wednesday is Hippie Day, Thursday is Beach Day and Friday is Bagels and Bingo!
We finish The Giver this week - last test on Friday.
We're still working on prepositions - keep memorizing!
We're done with Six Traits and now we're going to put them to use - get ready for a Narrative Essay.
 We're going to the library this week and our last book report is June 2.

This week we try to concentrate on...
The Giver - Test on Monday, then on to Chapters 13 - 17. Don't forget to study your vocab for any possible "pop" quiz!
Adverb test on Tuesday, then on to prepositions.
Six Traits moves on to "Conventions", you know...punctuation, grammar, paragraphing, spelling and capitalization.
Book report due on May 5.Â

The Giver is just starting to get interesting - Read Chapters 9, 10, 11, 12 this week and study for a test on Chapters 7-12 for Monday. Know your vocabulary - you njever know when there might be a pop quiz!
More adverbs this week - beginning our review with a test on Monday.
Six Traits - the trait of Fluency - we read our antiphonal poems on Wednesday and finish with a Fluency sentence game on Wednesday and Thursday.

This week we start The Giver in reading. We will read 1 chapter each day and answer questions on that chapter in our packets. Be sure and study the vocabulary for any "pop quizzes"!Â
We finish up adjectives this week with review pages from the Writer's Craft textbook. We also will be writing 1 last poem as a part of the trait of Fluency.
Vocabulary will be suspended during our study of The Giver, since it contains its own vocabulary.Â

We will be reading our biographies in-class. All biographies should be done by Thursday of this week. We are also trying to find an internet article that complements our book by using the COWS in-class.

Reading test on Eleanor Roosevelt today - then on to reading about Jackie Robinson this week. You need to be reading your biographies every night as they need to be completed by Thurday, March 6th.
Writing - we finish vocabulary Unit 6 this week with a test on Thursday. We are still working on verbs.
If anyone would like to come in for a portfolio conference that couldn't make it last week, I will be available Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 3 to 4:00. Please call me or send a note with your child as to the day and time.Â
