Books and Teaching

Mr MichelFor most of my life I have either been a student or an educator. Maybe it is because my family tree has teachers on every branch; maybe it is because I grew up in a houseful of books. It could be I am just plain lucky. This much I know: nothing is more interesting than spending your days learning something new. Feel free to stop by any time...I have more than a few books to share.

OKLAHOMA!

Lincoln Hall's Musical for this year is OKLAHOMA! The design team has been busy since the summer with meetings and discussions about the musical. Scripts, music, etc. have been ordered and should arrive before the winter break. When we return from vacation, we will have a couple of audition clinics where students who are interested in auditioning for the musical will learn some of the songs and how to have a successful audition. After the clinics in January, auditions will be held in February.

This will begin a very busy few months for our May performances. Stay tuned for more updates about OKLAHOMA!

Reading Enrichment

Reading Enrichment classes are working hard. Periods 8 and 9 have finished the first REWARDS program where we learned the basic strategies for reading faster with more comprehension and fewer errors. We began REWARDS PLUS, which incorporates our strategies using Social Studies as a base. The students are finding this more challenging and are beginning to transfer and use their knowledge from REWARDS to REWARDS PLUS. Period 1, is a new class of Reading Enrichment. We have just begun the first REWARDS program and are working on Lesson 2.

Introduction to Mr. Sasso's Blog

Mr. Sasso, PrincipalI am in my 18th year in education. I received my Bachelors Degree from St. Norbert College in 1989 and received my first Masters from the University of Illinois (Circle) in Social Work. I went back to school and received a Masters in Educational Leadership from Northeastern Illinois in 2000.

I started out as a school Social Worker in Arlington Heights School District 25 and came over to Lincoln Hall in 2000 as the Assistant Principal. In both District 25 and District 74 I worked extensively with the Special Education Department.

Thank You for a Wonderful Journey and Treasured Memories

To My Dear Colleagues and Friends....

Kids are people too. It is our role as teachers to celebrate that. And this is what my 34 years have been about.

Education is the brick and mortar of our Community, Country and Global Society.
Education cannot be successful without quality teachers. We are the people that our society is relying on to achieve the success in education that is critical to the future of our world .

Quality teachers don ’t just happen. They are the result of education, mentoring, wonderful students, supportive parents and hard work!
I cannot look back on my career and our accomplishments in District 74 without recognizing how fortunate I was to have role models and mentors who by example, support and generosity of spirit helped me become the best that I could be. I would not love my profession if it were not for these people. (Thank you Jerry Hodel…)
